Dr. Michael QUAH Cheng-Guan has just arrived in Singapore from
the US to assume the positions of Principal Fellow at the Energy Studies
Institute and Executive Advisor at the NUS Enterprise Centre, both at the
National University of Singapore.
Most of his career was spent in the US, where for 20 years he worked in E.I. du
Pont de Nemours & Co., Inc. in R&D, business development and management (with a
short stint as an expatriate in Japan and Singapore.) At DuPont, he worked,
among other assignments, with the perfluorinated ion-exchange polymer, NAFION*,
the pre-eminent membrane in PEM fuel cells.
Following his DuPont career, he worked in technology management roles in two
small companies involved with separations media and in alternative/renewable
energy, two non-profit organizations also connected to
energy/environment/sustainability, and in the US Army Communications and
Electronics Research, Development, and Engineering Center (CERDEC) within the
Research Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM.) Before his professional
career, Dr. Quah received his BA (magna) in Chemistry and Physics from Harvard
University, Cambridge, Massachusetts and the following degrees (M.S., M.Phil.,
and Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut.
