Albert Lam is a respected veteran in the automotive and technology industries. Throughout his career, Mr. Lam has been recognized for his ability to position companies for growth through new business development and long-term financial stability. Mr. Lam’s highly entrepreneurial career path directing high growth projects and transitioning business opportunities for leading global corporations and automotive organizations has uniquely positioned him to lead Detroit Electric.

Before founding Detroit Electric, Mr. Lam was the former Chief Executive Officer of Lotus Engineering Group and Executive Director of the Lotus Group International for five years. During his tenure, Mr. Lam was responsible for defining the vision, strategy and driving growth for the Lotus Engineering Group worldwide. Under his direction, Mr. Lam re-aligned the company’s global businesses and operations to deliver better efficiency and complimentary services, which facilitated the growth and profitability of the organization. His key accomplishments included bringing the business back to profitability, expanding the business to US, India and China and winning major external contracts from both established and emerging OEMs around the world.

Prior to joining Lotus, Mr. Lam served as Managing Director of Apple Computer in Asia (2001-2003) where he is recognized for raising the company’s presence in the region. During his tenure, Mr. Lam oversaw Apple’s regional sales, marketing and related functions. During his tenure, he introduced key initiatives which redefined Apple’s business model in the retail, education and bio-tech areas, as well as solidifying strategic partnerships with key businesses and government bodies. At Apple, Mr. Lam was able to grow the business by 150% year-on-year, making Asia one of the fastest growing regions for Apple and making Apple one of the most profitable organizations among the Asia Pacific region. Prior to his appointment at Apple Computer, Mr. Lam distinguished himself as the youngest Regional Director of Sun Microsystems and Sun Professional Services for South Asia. At the age of 33, he built and developed the professional services portion of the organization from a four person team to a multinational corporation with a staff of 150; covering Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, India, and Thailand. Within his tenure, Mr. Lam elevated the Sun Microsystems profile and growing the business to attract clients including Maybank, UBS, DBS, Standard Charter and many other major telecommunication companies around the region. At Sun Microsystems, Mr. Lam results included Sun Microsystems becoming the most profitable and award winning professional services organization within Asia Pacific.

Before joining Sun Microsystems, Mr. Lam served as Director of Consulting for Inference International Ltd, in the Asia Pacific region. The internationally recognized firm spanned clients from Asia to Europe providing leadership consulting for business development, project management and systems architecture. During his appointment at Inference, Mr. Lam provided consultancy to clients like Ford Motor Company, Nokia, Gateway 2000, GE, AT&T and Proton Cars among others.

Professional experiences also include holding technical engineering positions in renowned companies such as Jaguar, Land Rover, Ford, and Gaydon Technology.

Mr. Lam has a Masters of Science degree in robotics and manufacturing from Coventry University in the UK.
